About the event
A sacred space for recreation of the spirit. A giving garden growing food to support our neighbors in the Pigeontown neighborhood. Operated as a mission of the Presbytery of South Louisiana and a New Worshipping Community of the Presbyterian Church (USA), it functions as both an urban farm and a spiritual gathering place. Instead of a traditional indoor sanctuary, its grounds serve as a place to grow relationships and food side by side.
Key Activities:
-The Giving Garden: All the produce grown is given away to neighbors.
-Peas & Love Program: Volunteers deliver fresh produce directly to the homes of residents who have limited mobility or are homebound.
-Shared meals: The harvest supports community meals and gatherings, such as their seasonal Wednesday "Grace and Greens" lunches.
-Sustainability: The site uses an 800-gallon rainwater collection tank to water plants, reduce runoff, and help mitigate local flooding.
